The 2025 NASCAR
This iconic track will be driven by Sammy Smith, under the JR Motorsports banner.
From 1999 to 2007, Earnhardt Jr. raced. this song and has 17 wins in his Cup Series career.
The return of number 8 was made possible after Teresa Earnhardt, Dale Jr.’s stepmother, chose not to renew the trademark for the number. This decision offered Dale Jr. the chance to reclaim a symbol of his past. Given the emotional and historical weight this number carries, it’s no wonder that Earnhardt Jr. took to social media to share his excitement about this development.
He posted:
“It’s great to have this number and font back at @JRMotorsports. Can’t wait to see it on @sammysmithSS’ car next season.”
JR Motorsports is known for its role in nurturing young drivers, allowing them to transition smoothly to the NASCAR Cup Series. Previous drivers such as Chase Elliott, William Byron and Justin Allgaier have each had successful careers in the Cup Series following their tenures with JR Motorsports.
